The story behind It's Your August
I'm Mandy Lea, founder of It's Your August. August is my birthday month, and for years, it came with the same thought: Another year, and I'm still struggling with the same things. I was trying. I was putting in the work. But I felt stuck, wondering if I would ever see progress or reach the goals I had set for myself. Honestly, I felt hopeless.
Birthdays have a way of making you take inventory. The things you wanted to do. The changes you hoped to make. The promises you made to yourself the year before.
I knew I was getting older. I just wanted to feel like I was moving forward, too.
August became the month I decided something needed to change. I didn't have everything figured out, but I knew I needed help finding a way forward.
That decision is where this name began.

My story includes obesity, PCOS, insulin resistance, binge eating, and eventually the challenges of perimenopause. I know how frustrating it feels to work at your health and still struggle to understand what your body needs.
Obesity affected my quality of life, how I saw myself, and what I thought I deserved. It influenced the things I tried, the moments I sat out, and what I believed was possible for me.
For a long time, I felt like obesity dictated who I was. Now, I decide.
My worth was always there. I just needed to see it for myself.
Getting support and finding tools that worked for me changed my life. Over time, I lost more than 100 pounds. But the everyday changes meant just as much: feeling more comfortable in my body, enjoying movement, and having more room in my mind for something other than food and weight.
I felt excited about my life again. And I wanted to share that joy.
I took a leap of faith and started sharing my journey on social media. As my page grew, I met so many of you. You shared your struggles, your hopes, and the little victories that were actually really big ones. I watched many of you begin changing your lives, too.
Those connections deepened my passion for seeing others find their happy again, to get excited about their lives and feel proud to share their own stories.
I've been a patient. I've been an affiliate. I've experienced how this community shows up for each other and how much it means to feel understood by someone who has lived through similar struggles.
That's the experience I bring to It's Your August. This is personal to me. I've lived the uncertainty, the frustration, and the hope of finding a way forward.
Through my work in an OB-GYN office, my own health journey, and the community we've built, that passion grew into a desire to do more.
That's what led me to build It's Your August.

I founded It's Your August to help connect people with licensed healthcare providers who can evaluate their needs and determine what care may be appropriate for them. My role is to build the vision and community behind the brand. Medical guidance and treatment decisions belong to the healthcare providers.
At the heart of that vision are access, honesty, and community without pressure. I want people to feel valued beyond a purchase and affiliates to feel proud of what they share.
Every person's health journey is different. My experience is my own, and someone else's path and results may look different.
My faith has been part of every step. Looking back, I can see how God was preparing me through my work, my struggles, and the growing pains I didn't understand at the time. Every lesson helped shape the kind of founder I want to be and the heart behind what we're building.

Your August can happen in any month.
You don't need a birthday, a new year, or a perfect plan to take your next step.
I named this company after my turning point, with the hope that you'll find yours.
It's your August, too.
